I hope anyone else who might run into this very odd and uncommon bug reads this and it also helps them!įYI: I bought a brand new M.2 SSD, installed it as my new hard drive (old drive was made secondary) installed a fresh activated copy of Windows 10 and started fresh with everything.

    and what do ya know! IT DID! Soooo strange, but am glad it worked. so I thought "maybe if I switch it to hide file extensions, hit apply, then switch it back off, then apply, it might somehow suddenly work". Every time I have had a fresh windows install, file extensions were set to "hidden" by default and I would always have to go in and change this setting to show file extensions.

    HELP!Įdit: Okay so originally all file extensions were showing after a fresh Windows install on a brand new hard drive. Oh and I made sure it wasn't marked "read only" as well. I launch NMM as administrator and it STILL is telling me it can't find the ini file. I went and created "Fallout4Custom.ini" which I indeed changed the extension from.

    Well after installing a new drive, new windows 10, fresh copy of Fallout 4, fresh copy of NMM, I am getting this message.
